How Originality.ai's credit system works

Originality.ai is built for content operations, not casual checks. Every account runs on a credit balance that renews monthly and expires if unused, and every scan draws down against that balance whether the result comes back Likely Human or Likely AI.1 Even trying the tool at all means picking a paid plan first; there's no meaningful way to check a single paragraph without committing to a subscription first.

How the credit math adds up

The Pro plan's 2,000 monthly credits sound generous until you do the math on longer content. A single 2,000-word blog post checked for AI alone costs 20 credits; the same post checked for AI and plagiarism together costs 40. Scale that across a real publishing calendar, and the credit balance becomes something you have to actively manage, not a limit you'll rarely notice. None of that is hidden or deceptive pricing, it's simply the cost structure of running detection on someone else's servers instead of your own device.
