Submit URLs to Seznam.cz with IndexNow
Since adopting IndexNow in August 2022, Seznam.cz has received protocol submissions through the same shared api.indexnow.org route used by Bing and Yandex.1 Joining the protocol as the third participant positioned Seznam as the leading IndexNow adopter outside the English and Russian-language markets, and it means a single call reaches SeznamBot alongside Bingbot and YandexBot without any Czech-specific endpoint.2 For publishers of Czech-language content, that single call eliminates a separate submission step that previously required manual action in Seznam Webmaster.
In the Czech Republic, Seznam.cz commands roughly 11-15% of the national search market as of 2025 (approximate; Google dominates with the remainder).3 Consequently, for Czech-focused sites, Seznam's indexing speed directly affects organic reach among users who rely on it as a local alternative. Furthermore, Seznam maintains a full-stack portal offering email, news, maps, and weather in Czech, which means its index powers several vertical surfaces beyond the main search results page.4
How Seznam.cz treats IndexNow signals
SeznamBot processes IndexNow-submitted URLs with elevated priority inside its crawl queue. Because Seznam co-developed the IndexNow specification alongside Bing and Yandex, its implementation matches the reference specification precisely: key file validation at the domain root, HTTP 200/202 response codes to indicate receipt, and time-windowed deduplication for repeated pings.5 Building on this, SeznamBot applies Czech-language content signals when deciding crawl depth after initial fetch; pages with clear Czech-language indicators tend to receive broader crawl treatment than multilingual pages where Czech is one of several languages.6
Czech-language crawl depth
Seznam accepts batch submissions via the JSON endpoint, with the same 10,000-URL-per-day ceiling that Bing applies.7 For multilingual sites, submit the hreflang-annotated Czech URL rather than a language-redirect URL to help SeznamBot choose the right page for Czech users. When SeznamBot fetches a submitted URL and detects clear Czech-language signals, such as a properly set html lang attribute and substantial Czech body text, it allocates deeper crawl resources to the surrounding pages on that domain, which means the initial IndexNow submission can accelerate discovery of nearby Czech-language content that was not submitted individually.
When your daily volume approaches the 10,000-URL ceiling, rank submissions by freshness need rather than by URL age. News articles, price changes, and event pages should lead the batch, while evergreen pages that rarely change can wait for SeznamBot's scheduled crawl without meaningful delay. Tracking how many URLs you submitted each day in Seznam Webmaster helps you confirm that the day's priority queue was fully consumed and that none of the high-value URLs were dropped at the ceiling.
Adoption and coverage
Inside the Czech Republic, Seznam's reach extends across local news, e-commerce, and mapping queries. Czech users with high intent for local products and services skew toward Seznam results, which means the fastest way to surface a Czech page on Seznam is a priority-submitted URL rather than the next scheduled crawl. Conversely, for sites primarily targeting international audiences, Seznam's contribution to total organic traffic is modest.
As of early 2026, Seznam reported millions of daily portal visitors and over 5 million monthly active users on its news property Novinky.cz, reflecting a significant and loyal Czech-language user base despite Google's dominant overall share.8 Seznam's portal ecosystem, which includes email, news, maps, and weather services, means that users who discover your content through Seznam search often arrived through one of these companion services, giving IndexNow-submitted pages exposure to an audience already engaged with the platform.
Common issues and workarounds
The most-reported Seznam IndexNow issue among Czech webmaster communities involves key file placement: SeznamBot requires the verification key file at the apex domain, and subdomain submissions using a root-domain key are rejected silently.9 Each subdomain that submits URLs needs its own key file placed at that subdomain's root. A second common issue involves non-Czech URLs receiving lower priority in SeznamBot's queue; submitting only Czech-language canonical URLs rather than URL variants with language parameters yields faster indexing results. Removing tracking parameters before submission also prevents the same silent-deduplication behavior observed in Bing. One more issue worth noting: SeznamBot occasionally re-validates the key file during active crawl sessions, so if the key file becomes temporarily unreachable mid-session, SeznamBot may pause crawling until the next validation window, which makes consistent key file availability especially important for Czech-language sites.
SeznamBot's crawl depth and Czech-language quality signals
SeznamBot applies Czech-language signals when deciding how deeply to crawl a domain beyond its initial fetch. Pages with clearly identified Czech-language content (html lang attribute, Czech-language meta description, substantial Czech-language body text) receive deeper crawl treatment from SeznamBot than pages where Czech is one of several languages without explicit language signals. Setting <html lang="cs"> on Czech-language pages is the single most reliable signal SeznamBot uses to classify a page as Czech-language content before deeper crawl allocation.
SeznamBot follows the same robots.txt and canonical tag behavior as other IndexNow-participating crawlers.10 Disallowing SeznamBot specifically via a User-agent: SeznamBot block in robots.txt prevents Seznam.cz indexing without affecting Bingbot or YandexBot, which is useful when you want to exclude specific URL patterns from Seznam while keeping them accessible to other engines. Canonical tags pointing to a non-Czech URL from a Czech page signal to SeznamBot that the canonical is the preferred URL for indexing, which matters for multilingual sites where Czech pages carry canonicals pointing to English counterparts.
Hreflang and language signals for Czech international sites
Sites targeting both Czech and international audiences should implement hreflang annotations for the Czech language variant. Add <link rel="alternate" hreflang="cs" href="https://yourdomain.com/cs/page/"> to the Czech version and a corresponding hreflang="x-default" link to the default language version. SeznamBot respects hreflang and prioritizes the cs annotated URL when crawling Czech-language content. This prevents SeznamBot from crawling and indexing the English version for Czech search queries, which would produce low-quality results for Czech searchers and waste crawl budget on the wrong language variant.
Czech e-commerce and local business indexing with Seznam.cz
Czech e-commerce sites benefit from IndexNow submissions to Seznam.cz at moments when product availability and pricing change, because Seznam Zboží, the price comparison section of Seznam.cz, sources some of its real-time product data from the Seznam web index. Getting product page updates indexed quickly keeps price comparison listings accurate for Czech consumers who use Zboží alongside Google Shopping. Submit canonical product URLs without variant or session parameters immediately after price changes to ensure SeznamBot crawls the updated price before competitors' listings reflect the change.
Local business pages targeting Czech cities and regions benefit from Schema.org LocalBusiness markup. SeznamBot parses LocalBusiness structured data to improve local search result accuracy. Adding name, address, openingHours, and telephone properties to local business pages in JSON-LD format ensures this information appears correctly in local results. Submit the updated business page URL via IndexNow after any changes to location or hours to trigger a priority re-crawl that refreshes the structured data.
Seznam.cz Firmy.cz integration and web index signals
Seznam operates Firmy.cz, a Czech business directory that functions similarly to Google Business Profile for local Czech search.11 Firmy.cz listings appear in Seznam local search results alongside organic web results. While Firmy.cz listings are managed separately through firmy.cz/pridat-firmu, your website's Schema.org LocalBusiness markup influences how SeznamBot associates your web pages with your Firmy.cz listing. Keeping Schema.org markup consistent with Firmy.cz listing details (same business name, address format, and phone number) avoids conflicting signals that suppress local pack appearance. When the structured data on your website matches the Firmy.cz directory entry exactly, SeznamBot can confidently merge the two data sources, which strengthens the local ranking signal and increases the likelihood that your business appears in the local pack for geographically targeted Czech queries.
When to use this
Submit to Seznam.cz through IndexNow whenever you publish or update Czech-language content. For Czech e-commerce and local news sites, the freshness benefit is most pronounced. Your key file must sit at the domain root before any submissions register.
Examples
Submit a new Czech-language news article
After publishing, paste the article URL into the submitter. SeznamBot fetches within a few hours for Czech-language domains with clean crawl history (approximate; varies by domain reputation).
Signal a product page deletion to Seznam
https://example.cz/produkty/zruseny-item/
410 Gone response; SeznamBot dequeues the page and removes it from results faster than a scheduled recrawl would achieve.
Czech e-commerce shops with frequent catalogue changes benefit especially from submitting deleted product URLs to avoid outdated listings appearing in search.
